What would you imagine to be your life's ultimate adventure? Imagine having the power to make into reality any kind of life you ever wanted! First, I would imagine you would make yourself wealthy, powerful and have all the pleasures in the world from sexual orgys to having the best foods, to going to all the places you've ever imagined for adventure and fulfilling everything you've always dreamt of.
But then, after some time you would start getting bored with all of this after doing it over and over again, and so you would want something more and more outrageous and risky to your own life, you would find yourself imagining war as adventure and then you would go to war with your enemies to conquer them and have their territories and their women. Then after some time you would exhaust the scope of your imagination and get so bored with being in control and you would find yourself wanting to let of the power to control what would happen to you, and you would find yourself wanting something to happen to you that you didn't anticipate, a surprise. Then you would find yourself here right now living this life of mystery because ultimately a life without mystery is not worthy living for mystery is the ultimate adventure.
Imagine a life in which you knew from the word go what will happen in your life from your childhood to the day and the how you will die! Would you want to live that life?
One doesn’t want to know what will happen in their life because then that life would become the past even before we lived it, the thrill of not knowing what will unfold wouldn't be there anymore; we want a surprise, we want to not know what will happen to us, we want the thrill of uncertainty without our control, being completely in the dark about what we are and what might unfold tomorrow; not knowing if we will be poor, wealthy, powerful, enlightened or even dead the next minute keeps the fire of living burning.
You see the invisibility of God is in his Self forgetfulness and what we don't realise is that each one of us is the ultimate Self playing a game of hide-and-seek with itself, it gets lost in itself by multipling itself and pretending to be all these different things in existence to play with itself for it's own amusement and afterwards finds itself just like in the hindu philosophy of existence being a play of the divine source.
